bja105Name for a Paso Fino
My wife bought a blue roan Paso Fino today, at an auction. He is named Blue, but we want to change it. Its a 7 y/o gelding.
I want something to reflect the breeds Columbian roots. Funny is good. Columbia makes me think of coffee and drug cartels. Possibles are Juan Valdez (fictional coffee picker) and Pablo Escobar (drug dealer.) Any other good ideas?
Right now, we're leaning towards Hector. I wanted to name our son Hector, after the Trojan warrior, but it seems that most Greek names sound hispanic, which we are'nt.

AtkinsonHow about Peladdo, not sure of the spelling~

I lived in Colombia for 2 years and my friend, an old rancher here in Utah, gave me great advice for naming a horse; "Stick with one syllable, that way when they do something wrong you can say 'Blueeeee you SOB'" Think if you named him Pablo Escobar; "Paaabblooo Esssscoooobbbbbbaaaarrrrrr you SOB". See one syllable names are much more efficient.
Many of the great areas of Colombia end with the letter A and may not be suitable for your gelding, but Zipa (Zeepa) and Tiba (Teeba) are short for 2 incredible towns, set in the mountains, which are very clean and quaint. Pebe (Peebea) was a famous soccer star.

bja105Thanks for the replies, but we traded him already! We should have called him glue. He was good for my wife on the trail, but a jerk on the ground. He wouldn't let us catch him to saddle him up. The first time he tried to kick me, I said he has to go. The next day my wife traded him for a hafflinger cross. This one is much smaller, a good size for our 5 year old daughter. She loves him! Mother and daughter rode tonight, we also have a paint mare.
In high school, I dated a girl with horses. I swore I would never have a horse, now I have two. And a trailer. Looking for a new truck to tow it, and a bigger house with more land and a barn. My nightmares are coming true! I like them though, and my beautiful bride is happy.
