AlloutDid you buy that mule from the Tulsa Stockyards sale last Thursday night? 9/4/08? I swear I saw that exact mule run through there - my dad was thinking about buying it to take on rides in the Ozarks...

mustbhuntnexcellent decision to go with the mule. A good one is priceless.
(a bad one is worse than worthless.)

WillIt is just a mule, that I happened to buy from an individual. My expectations are low: doesn't kick, doesn't give me too much crap, gives up her feet without a whole lot of effort, and rides around the pasture without jumping more than six feet sideways at every rabbit that pops up.

Ralphieyeah the mule looks nice, but tell me about the kack.
11 September 2008, 22:55
WillThe kack! is a Cary Schwarz saddle with beaver tail bucking rolls. I know my other saddle, a roughout, has a Dale Harwood Wade tree and Harwood stainless steel rigging but I don't remember about the Wade tree on this one. You can't see them but they are 5" brass oxbows.
I think the wait now is up to 4+ years. I'm glad I got mine when I did. I think I have bought six saddles from him over the years.

SBTI joined the club too. Bought two mules from the Jake Clark sale in Ralston, WY a couple months ago. So far, the've been great. I'll begin guiding deer/elk hunts off of them next week. We'll see how it goes.

buckoI stopped and visited with Cary the last time I was in Salmon, and bought a set of the beaver tail bucking rolls.
They are not cheap, but then neither is his work, they are on my cowboying saddle and get used dang near every day and just look better with use.
Cary is about as nice a fellow as a person could meet, I envy you your saddles.
Oh, and that is a nice looking mule by the way, I like her eye.

AtkinsonI would love to have the saddle Will, might even trade a gun for it if the mule cripples you for life keep that in mind!!

Bucko,
That mule is faceing the other direction and thats not an eye, and that breching is just holding his big eyebrow up! Reckon Will bought this mule cuz he was already stump broke!

Also I gave the young toughs a roping lesson last weekend, won high money with a 1st, 3rd and two fast times. Reminded me that if a hog roots around under a tree long enough he is certain to come up with an acorn now and them!

It doesn't look like the saddle has been used much yet. I would personally get rid of the oxbows, have a lot of experience with them on cutting saddles. A few hours in the saddle every day for a week and you'll throw them away and get some flat-bottomed stirrups, preferrably some oak laminated Nettles or something similar.
