The world we live in

daniel77The world we live in
Ever notice how sometimes the world throws ice water on you and reminds you how twisted it can be?
As I posted earlier, I've been taking my son camping with the horses a fair bit.
We are constantly trying to upgrade the tack for his pony, especially as he's getting older and more able to do "stuff". If you haven't had a pony to outfit, finding pony stuff that is both western and decent quality is even harder than finding a good pony in the first place.
This all brings us to an innocent, simple Google search for "pony hobbles". Ever suddenly wish you could unclick a website? Happened to me...
If you want a laugh try it out. Be warned, that instead of seeing a pic of a kid's pony wearing hobbles, you may well get a pic of a bare-arsed man wearing fake hooves and a woman in a corset with a riding crop.
Apparently, there is a whole subculture of freaks out there dressing up as "ponies" for sexual bondage stuff. And it wasn't just one or two links, it seemed to be the majority.
I've lived some different places, done some interesting things, and lived a very full life, but I'll be damned if I was ready for this. Thank God I already have a bit for her. Don't think I could stand finding out what their perverted arses are doing with bits.
What the hell kinda world are we living in?

Nitro ExpressIt's called Pony Play. I'd never heard of it (and I have heard of a lot); then on an episode of "Bones" a year or so ago, the mystery was set in a "resort" for this sort of stuff. Seems it's a rather popular domination theme for those who are into that sort of thing.
Pretty expensive, too--the "tack" those folks employ has to cost a bunch.

SnellstromYou think Pony tack will will shock you?
Awhile back my gal was looking for a couple specific bits one a sweet Iron bit a twisted wire bit and a gag bit. Well you should have seen the pervert results on that search

.
Be careful about having your kids do any internet searches, seems like all kinds of innocent sounding stuff to normal folks turns up perverse results that kids really shouldn't be exposed too.
Daniel I know what you mean on trying to outfit a pony! My son just moved up from his pony last year to a full size horse and we sold that pony to a lady looking for the perfect pony (this one was pretty incredible)but the entire time we had that pony we were "looking" for good tack it is tuff to find.
I'll post a picture of the horse my son moved up to. Most of his pony tack fits this horse as well.

daniel77Snellstrom,
That's a nice pic and a very good looking paint your boy's got there. They both look quite comfortable. I hope they do very well together. I remember a post of yours about that pony, which begs me to ask, what'd he name this one?

BTW, that poke comes from a guy whose son is riding "Ladybug" and his new pup is "JellyBean". He won't be naming any more animals til he starts thinking more along the lines of "Tank" or "Sarge".
P.S. If anyone does know where I can buy some hobbles for a pony (of the equine variety) please send along the info. Thanks

SnellstromThat little paint mare is C.C.
short for Chocolate Chip cuz she is the color of a cookie of the same name!
She is a fantastic mare actually one in a million if you have had a bunch of horses you know what I mean. She takes good care of him and they do well together she is just 5 and you can do anything on her like trail ride anywhere, ranch sort, show, barrels, poles, flags. We are gonna see if she will pack this fall but I know she will.
She was green broke and had almost 30 days on her when we got her 2 years ago but she has a special mind.
This horse will be with us to the end.

Painted HorseI agree make them out of some soft cotton rope or a leather strap.

daniel77Make em?
I may well have to, but I've already made up a fair bit of my gear, and get a little sick of looking like country come to town. I make my own saddlebags out of old blue jeans. Halters and ropes, highlines, and a myriad of camping equipment.
Just want to have a few decent things, know what I mean. Plus, this pony can slip off a halter before you can turn around. The hobbles I use for my horses, I found on ebay. Amish made, good quality stuff and I think I paid about $15. That's less than half of what you generally see them for.
Thanks guys.
