Nope, you'll have to buy one used. There is the possibility to get an unused one from someone, but you have to trust their word.

I just bought one in .375 H&H. It doesn't look like it had ever been shot, but I cleaned the barrel and shot four rounds through it at the range. 8.89 lbs.

The only problem I have found it that someone buggered one of the sight base holes in the rear which is going to require being threaded to the next bigger screw.

So they are out there, if you keep looking. Are you interested in a .375??

Will,

Do you have a 375 hiding somewhere you don't want anymore?

Will,
It's a good practice to redo all the holes to 8/40s anyway on big bore rifles..I do that on most all my keeper guns. good insurance at a cheap price.

I will probably never use the Whitworth, but it is so darn cute with the egg-shaped cheek piece, black forend tip, and a good piece of wood (no knots!). I would hate to sell it at this point, but may change my mind. It is a lot of gun for what $650 gets you today.

Will,
If Sevens doesn't want it and you get tired of it, I'll give you $650 for it at your disposal...Today or next year.

In case you get mad at Ray I'll make you the same offer. I don't have any more use for it than you do but they are interesting to have.

Gee, I've started a vicious rumor. I apologize. I don't think I'm ready to part with it as yet. Sorry.

That's fine. Fine guns are hard to part with.

Wessells Gun Shop in Warren Michigan had three of them; a 458 and two 375. Can't recall prices but I think they were reasonable.

Is there a description of the Whitworth rifles posted anywhere? I can't Google one.
Is it CRF? What kind of safety does it use? Are parts hard to find for them?

I take it from this thread that folks generally respect them.

Thanks,
Tom

Whitworth was an English company that assembled Mauser based sporters. Generally like an early 50's FN, not as well finished (in my opinion). I have a couple of them, and I like them very much. - Dan

Quick, MADDOG, buy that puppy! They're wonderfully accurate and sweet handling rifles. Mine goes into the coffin with me. Who knows, I might need it!
