BaluleCan't one simply substitute 458 Lott brass? Another option is to get basic belted brass from Hornady or PMP, lube, run into the sizing die and trim to length. Only problem is then that the brass isn't headstamped.
Apparently the PMP brass isn't a shelf item but can be ordered from PMP. PM me if you want me to enquire about the PMP brass for you.

Ingvar J. KristjanssonJust use the Lott brass, the maximum overall cartridge length is the same. As this is the case, once the bullet is seated case powder capacity is almost identical.

capowardGentlemen,
I've never been to Africa so take that into consideration with my recommendation.
Everything that I've read about headstamped brass - regarding entry into Africa - here on the AR forums is that when examined they're looking for something 'in' the headstamp the match something in the cartridge marking on the rifle. If the rifle is marked '458 Watts' and the brass is headstamped '458 Lott' that would not be a match. However if the brass was marked with '458', 'Watts', or '458 Watts' then their would be a match between cartridges and rifle. If this is correct, when using basic belted brass without cartridge headstamp, all that would be needed is to handstamp '458' or '458W' as a headstamp and you'd be in compliance.
If this is incorrect then I apologize.

Karlgents the 450watts is a bottleneck cartridge isn't it, like the ackley mag. Not sure if this makes a difference firing a Lott case in it?

holzer375The Watts is not a bottle neck, its the same as a lott only 0.05 longer.
Lotts brass is also hard to comeby here in Zim. Just wanted to know if one can purchases Watts brass and what it may cost. I will be getting GS custom bullets and have them loaded here.
Thanks for the replys

loud-n-boomerWhen I had a Watts, I used the Norma basic brass and used an electric pencil to "engrave" .450 Watts on the base. They looked at it when I took it to Africa, schrugged, and waved me through.
