Phew! Even in 45/70 that would be one major ow-ie! The PSYOP effect is cool, too. Imagine facing that pair of sewer pipes at 2:00 a.m. Sarge's First Law of Personal Protection: The bigger the hole in the end of the muzzle, the less likely you are to need to pull the trigger.

cr500The problem then would be that it will be too long to fit in a CZ550/Brno 602 with a 500gn bullet. If you go for the 460 Weatherby case ,then you can only get 3 in the mag. At least with the Lott ,it will fit in a cheap rifle ,cases are available and you can get 5-6 in the mag plus 1 in the spout.
If it is a ruger No1 ,then I would love to rechamber a 458 into a 450NE No2. A nice big long case.

ColeI had my Ruger #1 chambered to 458 lott before there were many factory offerings. I sometimes shoot 600gr. Barnes. long throat no problems, except recoil!

GrandpasezMinkman-Use 90gr(made a correction of a mistype) of W-760 or H-414.Moderate load. You can
go up if pressure indications are ok for your gun. These two
in my experience with my 458HE which holds much more
can be loaded compressed with over a 100gr in the Lott,
with freebore to load bullet out a little.(bullet .3in
into the case)Important-Don't start out with less than 90gr.
My 458HE holds 132gr compressed with bullet seated same. ED.

SocratesBy the way Sarge, that double swings like a light trap gun,
has wonderful triggers, and I love the external hammers.
That's our friends home protection rifle, and I would NOT want to get one, or both barrels.
Weatherby,double, or Porsche 928?

SocratesSince my 375 holds barely 6, I figured the Lott held a bit less.
