Rimrock and Beartooth bullets in .416/.417"
Boh Rimrock and Beartooth are offering 22 Brinell hardness, and gas checked bullets for the 416 Rigby/416 Remington Magnum class of rifles.
They work fine loafing along over a load of 5744 or Trail Boss.
They are also capable of fine full power work. Loading lead bullets can be a PIA when trying to bell the neck just right. Buffalo arms makes tapered expander rods that fit in Lyman "M" dies. I use a .414" - .419" expander rod for .416" cartridges. I adjust the expanding depth just deep enough to easily start the bullets into the case necks.

I will get a new picture server to show this.

They also offer bullets for 404 (,424), 360 grain which work well for reduced load/cost with bullets of about the same weight as the jacketed bullets. the other option that I have used is Oregon Trail Bullets that are .427 (designed for 44-40) and sizing them down to .424. But they are specialty loads since they are only 220 grain.

Just a note:
I used 22 BHN on my flat nosed cast .557 for cape buffalo.
They held their shape and penetrated straight and far, just like CEB and NF solids that I have used.

I use cast bullets in a few different calibers, both store bought and ones that I cast myself. I size them 1 to 2/1000 over and expand the brass with expander dies that come with the 2 or 3 die set depending on caliber. I then bell the case mouth with a Lee Universal expander die so as not to shave lead when seating. Works Well !

What speeds were you shooting them at?
