More on the 375 H&H

Maybe the new Remington 798 will become my ".375", in H&H...
...and my 700 in .375 RUM will become the 'donor' for the ".470 AR".

What more can be said??? I think I'll leave it at that...

I remember some guy built a 4 bore, shot a cape buff with it, and it STILL went 60 yards before dieing. I figure if a 4 bore won't stop one, I'll go with the 375 H&H, which I did. Certainly by FAR the most practical of the medium to Big bores...

If recoil is not a problem for you in the .375 you can shoot everything with it. I am amused when people talk about "too much gun" for an animal. It may be too much gun for the hunter but dead is dead. I have shot a good bit of African game with the .375 or its progeny. It doesn't blow up duikers or klippies. I shot leopard with the .375AI and the .375Rum and the exit hole was not any different than a .30 caliber for taxidermy purposes. You can hunt white tailed deer with the .375 not because you need to but because it's fun and great practice for Africa.

I can't remember if I have chronoed any of those
loads. I woudl estimate the velocities around 2400 to 2500fps.
I do know they kill deer and pigs very well.
With the 235 Speer 64 grains of IMR 3031 was more accurate at 200 yards.

Mufasa,

I couldn't agree more. Phrases like "too much gun" and "overkill" make no sense at all. Nobody ever talks about "underkill."

In some sad future-world where I would only be allowed one rifle..( for my own good of course..) it would be my .375 H&H. No question, No hesitation.
