OldsargeRe: 425 Westley Richards...
ALF,
You have corrected the myth on a couple of occasions, now, and I am beginning to get an itch. Do you know if WR will sell the correct follower as an aftermarket item? Someone here on the site showed diagrams and pix of a custom made follower that allowed his custom .425 to feed correctly. Has anyone an idea of what such a follower would cost if purchased separately? Maybe if I rebarreled the .404 . . . ?

300H&HALF,
Many thanks for the info. Is the "white hunter" model the same as the "game ranger?" I've heard of a cheaper WR called the white hunter before but don't know anything about them.

ALFThe following have been plagiarized from Magnum.... hope they dont mind?
From my own collection, the follower on the left is from a standard FN Mauser action, the one on the right is from a Jeffery 404, also a rebated rim cartridge.

Dave James300, do a search, there was a gentleman about a year ago I think that post about building one from scratch, and even had drawings of his follower and mag box i believe

OldsargeI remember that. It intrigued me then and does even moreso now. Given the ready availability of CNC machining, there is no excuse for some enterprising smith not to run off a couple of dozen of them and sell them to those who want to build their own .425's. Surely a hundred dollars apiece wouldn't be beyond reason, given what we pay for aftermarket bottom metal, etc. I'd pay it (through gritted teeth!)
