Double Rifle Question?
Maybe Butch Searcy or someone else can answer these for me.
What is the difference between the Monobloc Construction vs Chopper Lump Barrels? What is the advantage of one over the other?

Why are most of the new double made with short barrels? I have noticed that Searcy's all come with 24" barrels. I like the feel of a long barrel rifle for balance and sight alignment.

Steve, go to www.hallowellco.com/abbrevia.htm and scroll down to "C" for chopperlump, and "M" for Mono-blok! Hope this helps! If you have further questions I will be happr to answer what ever I can.

Your question on barrel lengths, can be answered easily, by simply saying, The double rifle is available in 24", 26", and 28" barrels in most brands. But if you ever handle a double rifle, you will see that they ballance perfectly, and are heavy enough with the barrels thy have. Doubles, as a rule, have longer barrels for the overall length of the rifle than any bolt rifle. [Cool]
