450/400 3 1/4" at 300 yards
After the DSC I went to my deer lease to do some shooting with my videographer and two PH's from Zimbabwe.
While we were checking the zero of our rifles I shot my 450/400 at a rock at 300 yards. I have shot this rifle on paper at 100 and on rocks at 200 yards before.
I flipped up the 300 yard leaf, rested my left elbow on the ATV and let fly at the 300 yard rock. I shot 400 gr Woodleighs, 300 grain Hawks, and 300 gr X bullets. we were all suprised how well the rifle shot at that distance. All rounds would have been in the vitals of an elk sized animal.
The 300 grain bullets hit the same place as the 400 grain bullets. [Once again proving my 75% theory].
I need to shoot this rifle on paper at 200 and 300 yards so I can have hard data.
I would not shot at game animals that far, I would just like to know what size groups the rifle shoots as an experiment.
This was shot with IMR4831 Powder.

I am also checking out this double with
RL-15, and I may use this rifle on my next bear hunt with 400 grain Hawk .035jkt bullets so I shot 4 rounds at 50 yards [kneeling], R/L reload R/L.
The 2 right bbl shots were 1" apart. the left bbl shots were 1/2" apart. The R/L groups were 3" wide, with the same elevation. This was with 71 gr of RL-15. Next time I will go up in 1/2 grain increments to try and bring the R/L bbls a little closer together.

This rifle also has a 400 yard leaf....hmmmmm. Eeker

Dude, considering how familiar you are with your 450/400, I have no doubt that you'll have some good 400 yard results. Cool Cool thumb

Lo do they call to me,
