Best 375 moderator

270BuckBest 375 moderator
I have just bought a 375 H&H, it currently has a 25” barrel which is too long for my intended uses.
It is being cut to 20” and will be threaded to take a moderator.
I am looking at various moderators, all have their pro’s and con’s.
What would be recommended for the 375 H&H and upwards? Or similar big magnum?
Cheers

AtkinsonOne brake is about as good as another, its only a matter of displacing gases..I guarantee that puppys going to one LOUD bang and lots of flash at night, maybe even during the day..I don't mind a 20 inch barrel but a short tube and a brake is over the top IMO...

Ray, I believe he is referring to a sound suppressor, not a muzzle brake.

I am in the UK and it is a sound moderator (suppressor) I am going to use not a brake.

GeorgeSCan I presume that U.S. suppressors are unavailable?
If that is the case, check out Reflex (of Finland) offerings.

Assume you mean American made suppressors are unavailable in UK
Several firms make 375 , 45 and 50 cals for sale in USA

RyanBSporting oriented 37, 40 and 45 caliber cans are a custom proposition.
For Europe, check with BR Tuote.

CardinalExport of US made suppressors are to Mil/LEO agencies only last I checked.
check
www.a-tec.no and
www.hausken.no for Norwegian suppressors and they both have 375 mag versions.

GeorgeSBowers mkes cans for .458" and .50".
AAC makes the Cyclops for .50".
Anzio makes one for the .50BMG.
SEG makes the Monument for .50BMG.
AWC makes the Turbodyne for .50BMG.
There may be others, but those are the ones I know of.

AtkinsonI don't think you can suppress a 375 as the velocity is too great, but I wouldn't swear to it, bet if they make them is gonna be a big muther!!

RyanBYou can suppress it. Would sound like a 22 rimfire you'll just hear the crack of the bullet.

jaegerfrankNot a problem to supress 375, lits of good companies around in good old EU like ASE or ATech.

Mikee-NZi have a .375WSM which is suppressed. Ys it is quiet but not that quiet unless you are shooting subsonic loads (which I have just started tutuing with today)

SaeedIt is not hard to make a suppressor.
We have made plenty of them and they all work as well as any commercially available units.
Ours are sort of modified commercial offerings with some changes we make to fir our rifles.
Even made some for shotguns

When you develope your ammo for it, make sure it is on all the time, as removing moves the point of impact quite a lot sometimes.

Since the silencer is only intended to suppressor the noise made by the expanding gun powder gases, the bullet velocity is irrelevant. Silencer size is dictated mainly by powder charge, bore size and desired suppression. A silencer for a 375 magnum would most likely be about 2 x 14 inches or so.

In the USA the word silencer is a legal term for a gun muffler (also a legal term) and the word suppressor is not. That is the only difference I'm aware of.

In my opinion the best accessory to put on a rifle is a silencer.

RyanBThe best silencer in the US for a 338 Lapua is 1.75x10. 2x8 would be a hell of a size for a 375 can. I'd use a 20" 375 Ruger and the can would be Ti. Maybe Delta P Design would make one.

Saeed, I have nothing but admiration for your skills in manufacturing but the above is not the best advice you have ever given.
Leaving a moderator on after shooting it will eventually goose the thread and the crown.
Always remove it and let it dry out off the rifle and lightly grease the thread on the rifle. The POI should not move if you use the same light touch to tighten it back on.
That is not to say the POI will be the same with and without the moderator/suppressor, It will not.

RyanBIn 'Merica we use materials that allow us to leave cans on full time. One of mine was welded to the barrel to extend it. On a gas operated autoloader.

Live and learn all the time Ryan. Never seen this type of suppressor, only various screw on for hunting and military which have quick release fittings.
Not often wrong but it appears Saeed is right again. Must suggest that method to the next Blaser owner I meet.lol
