So far, I have on order Redding 404 Jeffery dies from Graf's, a .416 pilot for my case trimmer from Lyman, and 100 pieces of Norma 404 Jeffery brass from Huntington's. I already have Woodleigh and Swift bullets, and Reloder15 powder on hand, and I'll pick up some Federal 215 primers locally. I also read somewhere on the board that Mr. Atkinson recommended IMR4831 as THE powder for the 404, so I'll pick up a pound of that as well...

Like others CH is not my choice when looking,I bought a set from one of our regulars here in 450 3 1/4" nitro, and they wouldn't resize all the way or seat right,sent them back, and he called saying nothing was wrong with them, as we talked he stated he looked again and that the seat die was for a 450 no-2, he did sent them back no charge, but when I started with more questions he blew me off supposedly due to a customer calling from down under..Now I just save my pennys and buy RCBS

I use the ch4 dies for my .585 nyati and I have found them to be excellent....but I may be lucky Usually I like RCBS, I am having a .404 built and I will need to purchase dies redding dies are cheaper than RCBS so is this the way I should Jump, are the redding dies up to scratch in .404 ??

I like my Redding 404 dies very much....they were the first Redding dies that I had owned; I then bought a 9.3x64 resize die also.

johhnyreb- You could take a .44 pilot and chuck it in a drill; use a fine file to turn it to just over .423, then polish with fine WOD paper or crocus cloth.

I had a 10,75x68 ordered from ch4d and it worked ok, but it seemed very thight. I find the redding dies very ok and i have 3. 8x68, 6,5.06 and 404 jeffery. The only thing i have to say is that none of them has a sentered sizer button/stem. Anyone else experienced that?

Redding dies are excellent dies and they stand behind them..I have never had a problem with Redding dies or RCBS for that matter...Problem is Redding is limited in calibers they produce, particulary in the old British calibers..
