RIP- Assumming you can hold it up for long enough (BAKER DID obviously), it swings beautifully and with the trigger set, shots on running game would be pretty easy at 25-50 yrds. You'd just need a relay of folks to carry it any distance. On an Ele though I'm certain there would be longitudinal pass-throughs. You could portugese heart shoot an ELE and brain it all in the same shot.
It's actually much much neater looking up close than the pictures show. People who see it are flat amazed. I love it, in a wierd way. It just looks like it means buisness and you get the feeling it can deliver. If ever a gun flat looked mean, this one screems it.-Rob

I figure the way to carry that rifle on a hunt is to have it in a Pelican case with handles on the ends, and a tracker at each end lugging it. When an appropriate elephant is spotted, the Pelican can be opened and the rifle loaded. After perforating the elephant and several acres of hardwoods, the rifle can be returned to the Pelican for a scratch-free hunt.

But you would need to carry a rifle yourself as well so that the trackers could not con you into taking a turn carrying one end of the Pelican.

500 Grains- Good idea Dan- I like the way you think! A little bakshish should keep the trackers happy and I can carry the light gun without getting killed by the 12 Bore. I have got my 12GA FH chambered and will be testing loads in next few weeks.. I have got Savage 210 set so it will fire the heavier
BMG primers used in the cases. I had to lengthen
firing pin travel and adjust firing pin protusion an extra .015. The Savage is real easy to do that with. Fireformed a few cases
from the bunch that John put rims on.
By the way I have a lot of these cases, and
would also be suitible to make a rimmed
50 cal if someone wanted to..Ed.

Rob, how long is that barrel? I would so love to fire that bad boy some day. Get that thing on a sled and see what it can do!
Also, Rob, Ed, John, I haven't followed this though I remember you talking about it a couple years ago. Why the rim? The BMG's rim is pretty stout, and makes for a lot easier case forming. I'm missing something I'm sure.

Bwana--The rim is added to make the base like a 12 ga case. IE a rimmed case suitible for
break and falling block actions..That way the chamber base is the same as regular 12 ga
and can fire regular 12ga shotshells, which are shorter.And the rim we put on is strong also. Ed

A 12Ga is not considered a destructive device and thus is legal to own in all states. Thats why we built it so that a 12 Ga 2 3/4 shotshell could be fired in it. There are other advantages such as the ready availability of 12 ga slugs and especially sabots.
I've recently been playing with a cut down version 2 3/4 inches long specifically made for the 12Ga encore using .735 NEI paradox bullets. What I'm doing is making a higher pressure modern paradox gun out of an encore and a section of rifled ER shaw barrel.-Rob
