clayman216question on 458 win mag
What is the availabilty of 458 Win Mag reloading components ( brass )? I have noticed from reading different things that it seems at times anyway that 458 Win Mag brass is hard to get. Is this true or not ? If not where is the best place to buy the brass?

BenKKI doubt you'd have problems in the USA. It's the most common big bore rifle ever. I don't have any hassles here in Australia getting brass for it.

viperidaeI second what BenKK said, 458 Win Mag is just about everywhere. Brass companies don't have a machine for each caliber. They make calibers in batches. If someone is out of stock just wait a few months and you should be good to go.

BiebsIf you order 100 brass and when you get the gun, you should be fine. The 458 is not exactly a plinking round anyway.

LWD.458 Win Mag is not .30-06 so you will see vendors out between production runs. But it's common enough that you can find people here, on the 'fire, and elsewhere selling either new or used brass.
I'd buy more than 100 pieces of brass. Loaded with lighter bullets or SR4759 and heavier bullets, it's an exceptional plinker. I bought 150 and think I need more.

BenKKI reckon the .458WM is an exceptional plinking rifle! I had a great afternoon plinking ant hills with mine yesterday. Incidentally, I am a firm believer in non-reduced loads for familiarity - in other words, practice with what you intend to hunt with. Now I need to do some more loading...
