AtkinsonRe: 400 H&H Magnum
It will sell to a few of the elite as that is what Holland does, it will not meet with the public well as most will compare it to the 416 Remington....
Actually it should be compared to the 375 H&H, as a sort of super 375, but the 375 has established itself and is not likely to be unseated by this new kid on the block...
Yes, it is a wonderfull caliber for someone that is recoil sinsitive and needs a Buffalo gun, it should shine there for sure...

<rws2>Well Ray I sure don't fall into the elite but I would still like to have one even if for no other reason than to just have one.I realize its kinda a fix to a nonexistant problem but in my opinion one can't have too many guns or calibres.
Lots of views to this post nobody else have any opinions on the 400?

HunterJimRWS2,
There have been past threads with lots of commentary, you might want to search for them.
I want to build a rifle in .400 H&H, but I am waiting for factory ammunition to show up. Maybe this year!
Holland is proceeding at their own speed with this caliber and the .465 H&H.

500grainsThe 400 H&H is an inferior re-invention of the wheel. This particular wheel was previously invented as the 404 Jeffery, 416 Hoffman, 416 Rigby and 416 Remington.
But if you have to see H&H on the headstamp, then go get one. But they will not sell you brass, so expect to pay $150 per box of ammo.

rcastoCouldn't you fire form your brass from 375 H&H?
