Who's shot what with this bullet? How did it work?

So far, 2 Texas ranch eland. Both instant 1 shot kills. The first was a high lung shot, exit about golf ball size. Second was a spine shot my nephew made, slug ended up facing rearward under hide on far side after going through the spine, retained about 55%. Oh yeah, and a spike whitetail that ran 40 yards after a chest shot. The bullet expanded too, but this little sucker that weighed less than one of the eland quarters high tailed it after the shot, to my amazement. No blood trail for the first 10 feet, then lots. Bob

I used 300BTSP in my 375 in Africa and passthrus on zebra and bush buck (texas heartshot), wildbeaste shoulder and flattened him glued him to the ground...Took kudu at long range 400+yds...Lots of destruction and Ph said he like the way in chewed up the animals...

IT worked really well in my 378 WBY at 3131 fps MV! I put a finiher in a bull elk at point blank range in 1995. The bullet impacted the shoulder and was retrieved under the far hide. Weight retention was 44% and core/jacket did not separate. For your 375 HH it is perfect.

BTW Hornady just e-mailed me. They said they are considering a 375 270 gr Interbond! If not use the 260 NOSLER Accubond.

Shot 2 blacktail deer and 1 3point Bull elk with this bullet/caliber combo.

On the deer, it seems to blow a fist sized hole completely thru the animal. Throws up a big cloud of steam too. The doe I hit was at 15 yards and can speak about that cloud with some authority.

In the case of the Bull; it was running broadside at 175 yards when hit high on the front leg. Bullet broke said leg, passed thru chest, clipping front of lung, and lodging on the off side, under the hide. This shot had the effect of stopping the animal, so that it stood and looked at me. Then a 300gr roundnose was brought to bear.

The 270gr lost a lot of weight going thru the animal and was rivetted pretty flat.

I just visited Hornady's website, and emailed them at webmaster@hornady.com "demanding" this bullet.

The webmaster stated that my interest was noted and passed along to marketing who was "working on it".

Gentlemen, choice is always good so send your own email to this address and lets get another .375 bullet!

I have used the Hdy .375 270 grain spire point on several elk and it did not open up well - just went through. Then I switched to the Nosler partition and never looked back.

There is normally no such thing as bullet failure on deer with a 375 cal. 270 gr. bullet at 2400 to 2700 FPS, it makes no difference what the bullet does, that deer is dead and this almost but not quite encludes elk size game...

I say "normally" because there is always someone who can conjur up an instance wherein a 375 or 577 failed on a rabbit, but I just write them off to bad shooting and blameing the bullet.

I must admit I wonder about your posts. I shot a half dozen animals broadside ranging from warthog to kudu using my 375 with 270grain Hornaday spire points(2700fps) and I had only two bullets fully penetrate with the other four failing to even penetrate the far side rib cage. Either we used very different bullets or one of us is full if "it".

I've been reading all I can find on this bullet for the last year or so since I picked up a .375 JDJ carbine and I don't know what to think. Folks claim they come apart when shot out of a .375 H&H and those shooting them out of the .375 handgun claim they don't open. They shoot pretty accurately for me so I think I may give them a try next elk season. I'm starting to lean toward the 260 Accubond though, not that much more expensive and performance should be much friendly across a broad spectrum of applications.
