458 lott to 450 ackley

458 lott to 450 ackley

So can you just shoot 458 lott ammo in your 450 ackley to form brass???
Is that all there is to it or do you have to from it from basic brass??

Should be able to but the necks could be a touch short. Actually way short.

I've done it from .375 H & H brass, 416 REM and from basic brass, neither of came out significantly short. The basic cases and the 416 REM came out longest. After all, Ackley didn't have anything but these choices himself.

I just ment the Lott starts out shorter so after adding a shoulder it'll be a bit short.

Hornady makes a belted basic case. It's pretty much a .470 Capstick from the get-go and about a buck a piece IIRC.
