Allen,

Why D'Arcy Echols above all others.

How much are these rifles from new ? 6-10,000 ?

What about a original Hartmann & Weiss from Hamburg.
I know they are expensive but they look great.

I haven't handled any of their wares, but from the pics I've seen of their work, John Bolliger's style seems pretty spot on to what I like. I would also add D'Arcy Echols to the list, and he would probably win my vote.

If limited to that list, then Frank or Steve. But it is just personal preference.

Dang!

If I could afford those choices, I'd just retire, buy three or four of John Kerry's wife's villas, learn French and make up stories about Vietnam.

If you are going to spend as much money as these guys charge (and they earn every penny), I think it is a question of taste, not quality. Kinda like who is better... Rubens or Monet??? BTW, I begrudgingly wear bifocals to un-blur the dots that appear on un-Impressionist newspapers and like hugging full-figured women, if that tells you anything about my choice in gunsmiths???

Another thing to consider.... An original Rigby, Westley Richard or even a Holland and Holland may be available for the same price as a custom. Some day I'll own an H&H (if Mbogo375 doesnt' undercut me again ). I just wish I was flush enough to be in position to ask your question.

Assuming you had the choice between the following 5 makers, building a 375 H&H.
Which maker would be your choice?

John Bolliger
David Miller
Bruce Russel
Steve Heilmann
Frank Wells

Steve Heilman then John Bolliger, but I would choose Duane Wiebe over any of them. However, as was stated before, do you choose Monet', Rubens, Picasso, or ?
