Frank BellerArmy & Navy .450 #2 - Champlin Arms - opinions please
I'm thinking about the Army & Navy .450 #2 underlever SXS that is for sale at Champlin Arms. The gun is priced at $8900. (firm) and is currently slightly off face. JJ said he would replace the hinge pin and sell the gun for the asking price. Is this a good deal, considering the underlever style with extractors ? Or do I keep searching for a better rifle ? Thanks for your opinions.

It depends on what you want. I personaly think you can do better. I have seen a few of these around for less. Some of them are rebarreled BP rifles. About all you can do is check the proofs and serial numbers.
You can find a good hammerless 450 #2, 400J, or similiar non470 for just a bit more.

RobgunbuilderI've seen real Jeffery 450#2's for 12,500- 15,500. Maybe less depending on condition. Thats one heck of a better investment IMHO. By the way it's a great cartridge and very versatile. I'd spend a little more and get a better gun.-Rob
