416 Bee day at the range!
I went out with a 416 Weatherby last weekend. I tried the GS custom 330 grain HV bullet. I can't believe I got 3150 feet per second and well over 7000 foot pounds of energy at the muzzle and under moa to boot what a rifle that ClassicMark 2. Close to 90° Fahrenheit right now so I had to use the chamber Chiller great investment

Good accuracy at 100 yards. Loading the 416 CEB 340gr VLD (0.78 bc) at 2520 fps muzzle speed.

How's the accuracy at 300 yards? Wonder how the 300 yard energies compare (GS Custom 330gr, 0.37 bc).

That 416 is a beauty. great shooting! I have been looking to try a bullet with a higher BC than a mag-tip in my 416 rigby, might have to try some of those. BTW I have found RL-17 to be my new favorite powder for the .416 and .375 with 350gr and 270gr bullets. Looks like you are having good performance with it as well. Thanks for sharing!

Ballistics compared. At 500 yards my .416 Ruger 340gr CEB V15 energies begin to exceed the 330gr GS Custom -

93mm. Single feed. 416 Ruger Alaskan has a rather short throat.

POP,

This one in a .416 Wby will out run the 340-grain CEB from the .416 Ruger,
CEB .416/375-grainer is also a single-loader:

Bullet in above pic looks kind of stubby, but that is the one CEB showed for the MTH-V13,
assume BC and bullet length below are correct.
Here is a QuickLOAD summary for the Weatherby factory 24.25"-barreled DGM .416 Wby:

375-gr CEB MTH-V13
BC = 0.790 G1
SD = 0.310
Bullet length 1.793"
Ogive/nose projection = 1.285"
Seating depth selected = 0.508"
Start pressure for this monometal copper hollow point will be assumed to be 3625 psi,
as for standard jacketed rifle bullet,
because that is what QuickLOAD defaulted to for the 350-grain Swift AF,
and it surely can't be any higher than for that sticky bullet.

Brass length 2.913"
COL = 4.198"
24.25" barrel length

Norma MRP: 125.4 grains, 104.6% fill (compressed)

MV = 2922 fps

Pressure = 63,817 psi = MAXIMUM

KE = 7108 ft-lbs holycow

I got me one of them there .416 Wby factory rifles,
just because it was a 2016 Model with one of them there "African" rear sights on it.
One of these days I will finish shooting those two boxes of factory ammo,
(about 10 bucks per round) and commence to handloading for it,
if I ever get bored with the .458 WIN.
It's going to be a while.

I used the original (before they changed it to a lower BC) of about .450 and it was dead on past 400 yards

Same problem I have with my 378 Bee.

Cutting edge does not introduce HIGH BC bullets that will run through my magazine! I asked Daniel years ago for a 275 or a 280 375 cal that will feed....no dice.

They will feed through my 375 BAS though!

Good accuracy with the single feed CEB .375 300gr MTH (0.661 G1 bc) in my Sako 85 Kodiak .375 H&H magnum. Ballistics compared - 270gr TSX vs. 300gr L08. Significant downrange energy advantage with the L08 -

Order of battle: MTH in the tube, 3 TTSX in the mag when hunting with my .416 Ruger. Both shoot to about the same POI at 100 yards.
