<bearguide>444 Marlin 300+ gr. Jacketed
Does any manufacturer make jacketed bullets over 300 grain in 44cal.? I've been using Hornady 300XTP, but would like something heavier. Sierra makes a flat-nose 300. Will this bullet work in the Marlin LA, or is COL exceeded when using crimp groove?
Cast bullets are an option I suppose, but would like info on others. Thanks.

BER007bearguide,
I think in a Marlin Guide Rifle a 300 gr bullet is enough regarding pressure,...
You can take hard cast bullet 335 gr bullet. But the difference between 300 gr and 335 gr bullet is thin.
300 gr. J.F.P. (2150 fps /M.E. 3078 ft. lbs)
335 gr. W.F.N. (2025 fps /M.E. 3049 ft. lbs)
Detaiks from Buffalo Bore Ammo.
I have a LA Marlin in .444 and I'm very happy with XTP or Speer 300 gr bullet.IMHO

SmokeyBearguide, I was able to find jacketed spire point bullets 360gr from an outfit in Nebraska (I think). I am at school now and all my stuff is packed away and for the life of me I cannot remember the name of the company. Remind me in about 6 weeks and I will try and find the info for you. It was somthing like LeClair or Leblanc, something french or such. Smokey

the444shooterI shoot the 300gr Speer UCSP out of my Marlin 444ss, @ 2200fps for 3300ft/lbs +/-. Shot a mule deer doe with it this last season, and it put a fist sized hole completely through her, entrance and exit. I just recently got some 330gr Beartooth Cast bullets, and have heard WONDEROUS things about these bullets, and they shoot accurately out of my rifle same velocity as the 300gr Speers, but that extra 30gr of bullet weight push the ME up to 3500ft/lbs. Great combo in this rifle...although it's far from comfortable to sight in *ouch*

<bearguide>Thanks for the info guys! I checked with Beartooth but they're terribly backlogged with orders. It may take up to 6 months before they ship. I'm not waiting that long.
I'll have to look into the Speer 300's though.

Rusty GunnBearguide... I think Cast Performance may get the same bullets to you faster. ~~~Suluuq
