Red or Black Recoil pad for Ruger RSM 458 Lott......

djpaintlesRed or Black Recoil pad for Ruger RSM 458 Lott......
I'm getting ready to replace the recoil pad on my Ruger RSM 458 Lott. The factory POS buttpad does a great job of sending every bit of recoil directly to your shoulder so I'm going to put a Deccelarator on it. My only problem is that I can't decide between Red and Black. I'm leaning towards the red one thinking that it would look good on an African Hunting rifle, but I guess black is the standard choice.
What do you guys think red or black?.............DJ

fla3006I have a black Decelerator pad on my Ruger #1 Lott. It may just be my imagination but it seems to be a little softer than brown Decelerator pads I have on other rifles. I think brown or red (no white spacers) look better than solid black but to each his own.

browningguyGotta be red, that is the classic color. Actually my tang safety RSI has a factory red pad on it also.

Gringo CazadorI like the Red on a DGR, I like the london gun pads, but they are not the best for recoil. I have london gun for my 416 rigby.
I'm going with a NECG, which I have not used, but they are supposed to be a good pad from a recoil stand point from what I've been told, I plan to find out going to put one on my 404 I'm building.

Michael RobinsonI like the red, but have been using black because Pachmayr only makes the red in medium size, not large.

A good option to the decelerator is the Kick-EZ.
Note that their "molded in" logo on the face of the pad seems to cheapen the look to me.
So... I bought their red pad in 1&1/8" thick... Took my belt sander to the first 1/8" that contains the logo, and - viola - you've got a 1" pad that looks like the traditional silvers, but is actually soft.
Good Luck
