carnold724.416 Taylor group, I'm happy with it...
Here is the first 3 shots out of my Taylor at 100 while sighting in the other day. This is with no load developement other than working up a charge. I havent played with OAL yet at all and I probably won't. Is this pretty fair?

aliveinccAT 100? Yes, that should make you smile.
What's your load?
Is the 2300 fps a chrono reading?

Code4If that group is repeatable, stop and go hunting.

carnold724My load info came from RIP and I ended up with 75gr of RL15 in Remington .458 cases fired by a WLRM. It's actually a shade over 2300 over my chrony, but I just round down. The rifle is a Zastava 98 action with a 24" Douglas barrel, a Timney trigger, Richards Microfit laminate and a Leupold VX-2 2-7. I REALLY enjoy this rifle and am using it for spring bear this year.

Thank you and I'm not sure on the bedding job. I bought the rifle from the guy who actually built it and it never occured to me to ask about the bedding. He had his wife advertise it where I work as a ".416 elk rifle" on the break room bulletin board. He said he killed 4 elk with this particular rifle and I could tell it pained him to let it go. I got it for a song I thought and felt kinda bad for getting such a deal on it. I told him I would take care of it and it's def a keeper for life for me.

lawndartWhoever bedded it, you have a solid, well balanced, shoot for life rifle (as you said).
Thank you for sharing the information and the picture.

ScottSThat group works for me. My load is 65gr of Rel7 and a 340gr Woodleigh PSP for ~ 2470 fps. My 416 Taylor is a worked over M70, it is the bottom rifle in the picture (500 AHR top and 500 A2 middle). By the way, my 416 Taylor is my favorite elk rifle.

BrandoI would definately like to know who done the stock work. Just reading some of the history on Richards makes me wonder. I think I will eventually go with a Boyds JRS similar in color.

ScottScarnold724,
Where are you getting Remington 458WM brass? All I can find is Winchester (which is what I use) and Hornady. I would really love to get some Remington brass, as the Winchester stuff is crap!

jro45I have found that REM. brass has inproved because a few years ago I could only fire it one time and it would crack at the mouth. But now I can use it over and over.
