PC,
Matt, that's just about perfect... is that OZ english walnut?

I like the layout, looks like a darn good compromise between the straight forarm and the NICE butt....

can the pattern come UP and back, just a little?

PC,

Waghorn told me recently that he thought the Australian grown was the best wood for the 375s and 404s etc and the Californian was the pick for Weatherby style rifles.

Where did you get the wood from?

Hi PC
That looks like a really good piece of Walnut with a good layout. Once you get into the piece you wil really see it come to life. The grain structure through the pistol grip[ section is perfect for heavy recoil. I'll be very intereseted to see the contoured blank with some finished oil on it.
Take care and good luck with your project,
dave

Thankyou gentlemen,

this project is taking a long time but it starting to come together.

The bloke who supplied this also supplies blanks to H&H.......much nicer than mine no doubt

PC,

Fantastic wood. It'll come up great. My blank had the same SR serial number. Probably the same tree. Ask Ross when you see him.
