FjoldBig Bore price check
Is there something going on that I don't know about in regards to Winchester rifle pricing? I asked my local dealer to check on the price for a lefthanded, Winchester Classic Safari in 375 H&H (MSRP $1,186 from Winchester's website) and he's telling me that his list has the MSRP at $1250 and his cost is $1050. I've never bought a gun for MSRP in my life and usually figure that I can get a gun for about 75% of MSRP at the worst. Has something recently changed?

FjoldThis is the first Winchester that I had him price for me, but he charges me cost plus 10%, plus CA DROS fee, plus sales tax, so I'd be paying at least $1,275 for this gun. His cost has been routinely 65% of MSRP for Rugers, Savages and Remingtons but for this Winchester it's almost 84%.

WyoJoeYou might want to check
http://www.montanarifleman.com/. They quoted me a very reasonable price for one of their actions barreled for the .416 Rem. They were supposed to bring them out in the left hand models.

FjoldThanks Joe, I've had an MRC short action on order for the last 9 months, so I'll think I'll wait for them to deliver on that before I order anything else from them.
I was trying to get away from building another rifle though and since I don't own a Winchester (they've never been lefty friendly, always a day late and minimal choice for southpaws) I thought that I'd give them a try. Being this was my first experience trying to buy one, I was surprised at how close to MSRP that they were priced.

GeorgeSFjold,
Keep looking. I found almost all my M-70s via the 'net.
Are you looking for any particular model/chambering?

WyoJoeThanks for the reminder George. I forgot about
http://www.auctionarms.com/ and
http://www.gunbroker.com/. My brother got his .375 H&H from the intetrnet.

FjoldAll I'm looking for is a
LEFT HANDED < !--color--> 375H&H magnum with CRF, holding at least three down and one in the pipe. The M70 Classic Safari met this requirement and that's about all that has, without building it myself. Whenever I build a gun I always add all of the extras since if I'm going to screw a barrel on, I might as well blueprint the action, add a premium barrel, bed the action, custom stock wood, etc. and every gun winds up costing me way more than I started out to spend. I just wanted a stock, left handed, DG rifle that I could take to Africa and use right out of the box.

Rob01What George and Joe said. I got my Mod 70 Super Express in 375 H&H from Gunbroker. It was used in great shape and I got it with a Burris Signature 1.5-6x scope in QD mounts, bullets, brass, dies, and 60 rounds of loaded Federal Safari ammo for $850. I'm happy

The lefty might be harder to find but keep looking.
