Anyone used these on moose size game?

I have a bunch and they shoot great in my rifle, I can load other bullets if needed but if they'll suffice I'd rather not

Finding other bullets has become quite a pain

They will do ok for moose, I use a 260gr Accubond in mine, and a 250 gr Sierra in my 375 Whelen AI.

I bet they will work great. There is a native somewhere up north that is probably using an fmj out of an sks, mosin nagant or 303 british.

I'm always impressed when I see the animals they are taking down with their one rifle. Whether it is a Walrus, Muskox, Moose, Caribou, Bear, Bison, etc

I agree that a 279 gr Speer from your .375 H&H would work fine for a moose.

A few years ago when I was hunting Muskox, my Eskimo guide told me that he used his .223 AR 15 to kill a Polar bear. Shot placement trumps everything else.

I'd go with a 300 gr TSX or Aframe.

Those bullets are pretty soft.

For the cost of a moose hunt I would not use anything but one of the previously mentioned premium bullets.

A quick check of midway shows 2 different Barnes TSX’s and Hornaday CX bullets in stock and ready to ship.

For moose the 300 gr Nosler would suit me fine, its worked on everything for me..

As much as I like woodleighs I would hold off until they are up and running again..Do a lot of testing and load development then cant find more bullets is the scenario right now..

If you have a bunch and they shoot great in your rifle then why not use them?, Moose are not known to be extremely hard to kill.
If I were you I would do a few tests with the bullets to see how well they hold together. I do this by shooting them at 100 yards into a loose sand bank (this is pretty brutal on most bullets) and line up 4 or 5 jugs of water (milk jugs or detergent) shoot them in a line to see how deep the bullet penetrates again at 100 yards.
The results will tell you if they will work or you want a tougher bullet.
Remember thousands of Moose are killed every year with 270's, 30/06's etc and cheap factory cup and core ammo.

Been there done that and so did my wife. 30-06 150 grain cup and core.

I found the cup and core 270 gr. Speer to be a tad soft and it will come apart or wad up on spine shot, not that it would fail, but I would keep the shot in the ribs behind the shoulder on Eland, Buffalo, Bison and the heavy animals..The Speer Grand Slam is so much better..
