QD mounts for CZ 550 375
Gents:

Warne, Talley? What do you recommend?

Talley's come back to zero and hold tight on my CZ 550s in 375 H&H and 500 Jeffrey. I'm very happy with them.

Thanks, Chuck. These do not require bases then? How are they set up initially?

Don't they just go into the integral dovetails on the CZ?

Yes they go right into the dovetails machined into the CZ 550 action...

I guess the question I am trying to ask is do they require any installation by a gunsmith?

None at all except putting the rings on the scope and boresighting it. I had Sportsman's Warehouse do it for me for $10 while I waited. If you feel comfortable doing that yourself fine. I now take mine off in seconds and put it back on in less than a minute.

Thanks again, Chuck for the info and patience. Is the Warne QD simply a market alternative?

I have also looked at the Burris scopes in 30 mm and they appear to be good but certainly I have no experience using them on a bigger recoiling rifle. What do you recommend?

I'll defer to the other members of the group, really don't have the wealth of experience they do...

I use the Warnes, they return to zero and work just fine on calibers up to an including the 500 A2. The Warne is a "market" alternative to the Talley. They require no gunsmithing at all, simply install them and be done with it. If you have difficulties installing standard scope rings; however, you may wish to seek the help of a professional.

Thanks, guys. since we are talking scope mounts, what do you prefer for scopes?

Big Bore Boar Hunter
As an FYI, skip the bore sighting. Lay your bolt gun in a rest, remove the bolt, and look at an 8" bullseye target paced at 100 yds through the bore, center the target in the bore, then adjust the scope so the target is centered in the scope. Your first shots will be as good as any through a bore sight and you don't have to cram a stainless steel rod into the crown of your rifle.

I thought that is the procedure for bore sighting

Not trying to steal the thread, but I plan to put qd mounts on my cz 404 Jeff with a Leupold one inch 1-5x. Which work better for cz, the medium or low mounts? Thinking the high mounts wouldn't set up well on cz. Where's the best place to order the mounts from? Thanks fellas.

I have the 1.5 - 5x Leupold on my CZ 550, the medium height Talleys work great.

On 458 and larger I like Leupold 1-4 or 2.5 fixed. On the 375 and 416 I like Zeiss 1.8X5 or 3X9. The Zeiss scopes are much sharper and clearer than the Leupolds b BTW.

Hey maddenwh, I couldn't find any low mounts of any kind. If you find some especially in QD low mounts please send me a PM and let me know where you found them.
