crsheltonMore .405 WCF stories
For those that like this caliber, this link has pix of some African DG taken some years ago with a .405 WCF and a few tidbits about the hunter, the cartridge, and other .405 enthusiasts.

MJinesAnd if you want to read some really interesting stories about someone hunting with a .405 WCF in India, pick up Kenneth Anderson's books. Most of his hunting of tigers and leopards (assuming you believe everything he wrote) was with a .405 WCF. Good writer in any event.

crsheltonMike,
Thanks for the tip on K Anderson. I researched him and his work and am impressed. After locating multiple sources of his books on the Internet, I ordered his Omnibus 2 with three stories in one book; Print Asia had it for $12 and no shipping or handling charges! This was less than any other sources by 50 to 66 percent! If I enjoy the stories, I will buy the other Omnibus too.

crsheltonMike,
I am half way through the Omnibus 2 collection of Kenneth Anderson hunting stories and they are good enough that I located and ordered the Omnibus 1 collection.
Though Jim Corbett preceded Anderson, they shared much of the same traits and hunting skills and determination. To both writers, the rifle was a tool and their main interest was the land, the animals, and the hunt. Good stuff!

MJinesI will throw another recommendation at you. If you like Corbett, pick up Carpet Sahib. It is a biography of Corbett. Good book and it helps you understand Corbett better. Don't be fooled by the Amazon reviews, it is actually a pretty good book and certainly not anti-Corbett. It is not one hunting story after another but interesting nonetheless.

N E 450 No2Hopefully in a few months, I will have some 405WCF, fired from an 1895 Winchester, stories to tell.

crsheltonN E 450 No2 - Good hunting and I look forward to your .405 stories.
Apparently Anderson also had a .450-400 double, but so far the only story in which it was used is "The Killer of Wynaad" wherein he loans it to a friend who is hunting a man eating tiger with him; Anderson used his Winchester 1895 .405 in that story and all the others that I have read so far.
