Idaho Sharpshooter505 Gibbs question...
I am setting up to reload for a friend. What the heck is the adaptor size and thread for those dies? I unscrew the one from my Big Max and they are too small for it. Screw the adaptor back in and they are obviously not 7/8"x14. They are CH4D dies.

Idaho Sharpshooterthanks, I will probably catch him in the morning.
This Gibbs is a Jim Wisner creation, and it is artistry in walnut and steel. One-piece CNC magazine box and trigger guard, three folding leaf express sight, hooded front, all the right stuff.
I am unworthy to even load for the owner...but he has entrusted the rifle to me. Got a dozen one gallon milk just full of water setting up in the freezer...it will be like blowing up a snowcone stand.
thanks guys,
Rich

338guyYou can also purchase the adapter from Huntingtons.

micdisMine are 1x14. You can buy an adapter bushing from CH for about 1/2 the price of rcbs. I needed a 1-1/4-12 x 1-14 for my Lee classic cast.

ScottSOr you can do as I did and machine a press that is 7/8" X 14 TPI to 1" X 14 TPI. If the are standard CH4D they will be 1" X 14 TPI.
Since you are proficient with a set of micrometers all you need to do is mic the OD of the threads and count the number of threads per inch to get the pitch (or use a thread gage). Nothing to it.

J WisnerRich.
I forgot, which dies did Paul buy from me for the 505.
I had made up some file trim dies, and some taper crimp dies years ago when I did mine. Those are stamped with my initals and case hardened
Those dies are the same as RCBS with a 1 x 14 thread.
The overall case length is important due to any crimp you place on the neck.
I have some load data for 325, 525, 600 gr bullets, just PM me.
The guard is not a cnc unit, it was done on the old Bridgeport Hyd profiler and by hand.
It is good to see he is finally getting it shooting.

RobgunbuilderMicrometer and thread guage will easily tell all! All gunsmiths need to be proficient with the use of these tools. Unless I'm mistaken its 1"X14.-Rob

Idaho Sharpshooteryou guys are correct...remember RGB I am not even a card carrying apprentice yet.
Jim, just called Paul, he had forgotten he had the other stuff from you. I will have it in the morning when I get to the shop. My mentor lives a couple blocks away from Paul.
Thanks again,
Rich
