lawndartTom is not taking in much work at present. He is concentrating on a book/video of his jigs, fixtures and techniques. It will be more valuable than the Magna Carta, and almost as valuable as the Bible and Koran.

We may have to start a religion and build temples to read and study his new book in.

rolexfanI have had Tom do some work for me in the past and he turned the actions around very quickly. Tom is a great fellow and probably the best in the business. He is also getting older and turns down more work than than he takes in. That said, there are other smiths that are very, very good out of making a silk purse out of a sows ear, ie: CZ actions. I have had some fantstic work done by a fellow in Northern California by the name of Steve Heilmann. He is an incredible smith and has built some fantastic rifles.

fla3006Bolt handle, bolt release, trigger, safety, contouring by Tom Burgess. Since pic, I have added Jim Wisner's extended floorplate:
Tom is very busy now.

FOsteologyIf Mr. Burgess is not able to accept your project, I would inquire with Ed Plummer of American Hunting Rifles. He does excellent work on the CZ actions.

Dago RedI didn't know Tom was doing a book/video, I have been dreaming about that for years. I'd take out a loan if I had to for that information. wonder what my bank would give me?

lawndartA whole lot of history and metallurgy is concentrated in Tom's brain, and an incredible level of discipline and talent in his hands.
If you have any emails from Tom, don't delete them. Archive them before you print them out to read and re-read.

WinkSince you are interested in which gunsmiths work on the CZ, don't forget Marc Stokeld. Take a look at this rifle.
