FWIW I think the best test of a scope is on something more like a .300 RUM....or even a .270 Winchester featherweight for that matter.

Even my .404 dont rap as sharply as my featherweight M-70s in .30-06 and .270.

For what it's worth. I have a leupold VX III 1.75X6 on my M-70 SS .375H&H the bases are Leupold QRW and the rings are standard old weaver matt lows.

After well over 1500 rounds and numerous trips falls and dings I've never had one moments trouble with this set up.

I think bullet proof would be a good description. Smiler

I highly recomend this set up.

Roland,

I found that the Leupold 2.5x compact and the Leupold 6x36 both held up just fine against the .585 Nyati.

The longer eye relief of the Leupold vs. the Euro scopes is also nice when shooting 375 and up.

Surestrike,
I have looked your signature photo over several times and just noticed the AK-47. What's the story on that?

As a general rule, people are nuts!

Probably the accompanying government “game ranger's†gun.
