I picked up a nice piece of American black walnut recently and was wondering if it'd be rite for my Cogswell & Harrison 375 H&H

....the grain is straight and tight and should make a very pretty stock....will post pics once its completed

GeorgeSBlack walnut has been used on .375s almost since the round was invented in 1912, and Winchester has been using it since they introduced the M-70 so chambered in the 1930s. It should work, and look, fine.

AtkinsonIt would not be my choice, as its heavy, porus, and not as desirable to me as turkish, English, Bastogne, or French..but yes, it will probably make you a stock...I would not pass judgment on any blank, until I have seen how the grain flows, etc...

Gringo CazadorIs this one of the stocks that Bill Soverns sold here on AR a while back, if it is, it should with no problem. As Geo said, Black has been used on 375 forever.
