Help needed for BPE newbie
I have just fulfilled an almost lifelong dream and bought a .577 BPE double rifle. It was cheap and in very nice shape so I didn't have much time to research the background of the caliber as I usually do. Is the .577 BPE the same case as the .577 nitro? I know about the power difference between BPE and nitro, I'm just trying to locate cases, dies and bullets. I believe I've located some good sources of bullets now for the cases and dies. Thanks for any and all help.

A good starting point is to read "Shooting the British Double Rifle" by Graeme Wright who includes loading procedures and loading data.

Congradulations on your new rifle. I believe they are very close sharing a common rim dia. of .748, rim thickness of .052, base of .660, neck of .608 but lengthes can very greatly in the BPE from 2.5 to 3.25 and the NE 2.75,3 and 3.25. Don't know anymore about this one because I'm only a cartridge collector at this level-but i'm still young and have high hopes! But one of my "still in process"projects is a double 50-90/110 Sharpes {Greenmountian .509 barrel blanks} on a sidelock double shotgun for fun! R.

Yes, the brass is the same. It's my understanding that .577 brass has been a bit of a headache lately. Avoid Bertram unless you have no other option. Trying Huntington Die Specialties for components and dies.

Does anyone know where I can get some dies and some cast bullets to try to regulate it? Thanks
