RIP.505 Gibbs Question: Are all .504" groove diameter?
CIP lists the proof barrel specs showing:
1:16" twist
.504" diameter in the grooves
.494" diameter in the lands, bore diameter
The bullet they show on the cartridge has a maximum spec of .505"
I only have a CZ .505 Gibbs with 1:10" twist barrel made by Harry McGowen before he sold to the Kalispell, Montana group. I have not slugged it.
Right now I am caught up in a trip to Minnesota, and will not be able to pay full attention to my hobby duties due to work duties I am getting behind on.
Note to self: slug the CZ barrel
What do the various makes of .505 Gibbs barrels slug?
Sumbuddy who know?

RIPO.K. nobody has slugged their one of 35 original Gibbs .505 rifle barrels.

Krieger specifies .505" groove and .495" land/bore diameter.
I cannot slug my CZ at the moment, but IIRC Harry McGowen said it was supposed to be the full .505" groove diameter.
I suppose a full .505" diameter bullet would be the universal .505 Gibbs bullet diameter afterall.

McGowenRifleThe groove should be .505, not .504.

Idaho SharpshooterMy CZ 505 Gibbs is .495"/.505". I believe they have McGowen barrels on them...?
