Gun Shows To See Big Bores
I live in western PA and there is virtually no place to see and hopefully buy big bore rifles [I just don't have the patience to have one made any more]. In our area a big bore is defined as a 45/70 [sorry about that]. Can anyone suggest a show that would be worth seeing to look at some of the big guys? I go to the Ohio Gun Collector show and PA Gun Collectors but rarely see anything interesting. bewildered

I drove 112 miles from my home in NJ to the Cabelas in Hamburg PA. Jersey doesn't have any big bore's to look at either.

You just missed the Tulsa Gun Show... that would have been a good one. Probably second only to the Antique arms collectors show in vegas.

You also just missed the safari season shows.

There used to be an annual show at one of the Trump casinos in AC; a lot of the high-end gunmakers were represented.

I don't know if that show is still being held.

Otherwise, make your way to Nevada for the SCI convention, where all the big bore makers tend to have display booths.

LJS, every year the Harrisburg Farm Show has a several gun shows .There are some dealers who bring big bores to sell. The next one is slated for Aug 20 thru 21. I cant tell you who will be there, but it usally is a good turnout of vendors . The last spring show i hooked up with a brick of Kynocks for less than current Factory stuff for my .470, (and lads the answer is no Wink) Give it a whirl and see what you can see.Hope this helps you out. If you have not already been down there, go check out that new Cabela's store over in West Virginia. It's about an hour south of you. I was up in Cranberry, PA over Christmas and just to get out one day, we took a trip down there. They have a gun library and therein, a few big bores.

They had lots of overpriced junk on the used racks too.

Tulsa (the big one, 3800 tables) and the Beinfield Las Vegas Antique Arms & International Sporting Arms Shows (in January).

Tulsa for sure! I have 5 tables there and I can never see the whole show. Usually if you need one you can find it in Tulsa twice a year. I wish I knew as much as fla3006 and Ray Atkinson about the variations of actions. I think I could make a fortune! It is as much as you can take in in a two and a half day period. My mind is totally numb after the weekend.

The Wannamacher Tulsa shows are great but for high end guns nothing beats Wallace Beinfield's Vegas show at Mandalay Bay Resort in January-February which combines the Antique Arms Show and Sporting Arms Show. Here's the link: VEGAS GUN SHOW
