Goldeneyehelp with leupod QR bases to win 70 express
Hello!
I have a question you perhaps could help me with?
I'm about to order leupold QR bases for my Winchester .375 Express.
However I am a bit uncertain of what to order.
There are as I understand it two alternatives:
LP50063=0,435´holes
Or
LP50062=0,330´holes
according to opticsplanet the 63 is post 64.
my rifle is a post 64.
Is that the one I should buy?
Are all post 64s with 0,435´holes?
http://www.opticsplanet.net/le...k-release-bases.htmlThanks for any help.

Woodrow SYour rifle most likely uses the .330 rear base hole centers. Both of my Safari Classics in 375 H&H and 458 Winmag are that type and I believe all the long action big magnums are.

RIPI had a set on a .416 Remington "New Haven Connecticut" Winchester M70 Classic from the late 1990s.
0.330" is the hole spacing used on the rear base of that one, and would be the same on a .375 H&H chambering of that model.
I much prefer QRW to QR Leupold mounts.
It is not too late to wise up.

I did, and now all of my Winchesters wear QRWs, even the Pre-64s.

boltmanAll post 64 .375 H&H's are .330 spacing for the rear mount, push feed and the classic control round feed models. Be aware that the leupold QR rear base overhangs the ejection port on the .375 H&H models which is the reason I didn't care for them on my M70. I switched to talleys and like them a lot better.

GeorgeSMy 1997-vintage M70 .375 uses .330" spacing for the rear base screws.
Mine has wrn the QRs since I got it with no issues.

Michael RobinsonYou have it backwards, Goldeneye. As others have said, the hole spacing for the rear base on a Winchester Model 70, post 64, long magnum action is 0.330 inch.
FWIW, I also prefer Talleys, primarily for their strength, but also because they don't overhang the loading/ejection port.

Michael RobinsonGoldeneye, no wonder you raised this question.
The Midway site is wrong. What is it, Swedish? Norwegian?
They are listing the 0.435 inch bases for post-64s, when they should be listing them for pre-64s.
You can bet they are getting returned goods!

R. G. HowardThe rear hole space of .330 fits the new production Safari Express Mod 70 so it probably is not what you want.

McCrayAll Post 1964 Winchester Model 70s originally chambered in 375 H&H (or 7STW, 300 Weatherby, 300 RUM, or 416 Remington) have a .330" rear scope mount screw hole spacing.

Good, because none of you guys warned me to get the QRW back when I got mine over 5 years ago. Course, mine doesn't get shot much, I guess duct tape would hold up as well at the number of rounds through it.

RIPOf course the Leupold QRs hold up pretty well too, if they are never Q-D-ed (removed and replaced).
That way there is no chance for repeated rotary rubbing and camming (of cast metal on cast metal) that might wear them out, loosen the fit, or break them.
They will last better that way, as long as there are no casting defects in the metal.
Talley, Warne, or Leupold QRW for QD rings and bases, please.
CZ and Ruger rings are reliable, and QD, with my Chucky Cheese token in my pocket.
