LJSKimber Mounts on a 416 Remington?
I recently fell in love with and finally acquired a custom 416 Remington. On the gun were Kimber lever type mounts and a Leupold 1.5x5 scope. Does anyone have experience aith these mounts on a DG rifle? I'm a firm believer in Talleys but these look pretty good. The Kimbers have a front lug but not the rear one found on the Talleys.

lee440I've used them on a .375 H&H and a .375 WTBY for years with no problems at all. I am currently working on a .416 that will use them also. If you decide to go with Talleys, please give me a shot at purchasing the Kimbers from you! Lee.

George SemelKimbers are good mounts, they sould be fine, you may want to see to the bases, if the maker did not already did so you may want to go to 8 x 40 screws. Other that that, how dose it feed extract and shoot?

AtkinsonRIP says they are worthless, but I will buy yours if you will sell them to me, I like old worthless stuff that these kids don't like!

In fact I will trade you a set of new Talleys or Leupolds QDs for them.

M1TankerYou will have NO problems with those rings. I have them on several rifles and have never had a problem. But like was said above going to the bigger screw isnt a bad idea on the bigger calibers. They are very classy looking and strong as can be.

RIPKimber's QD levers should be fine on a .375 or smaller rifle. They are pretty crude though. I didn't know any better when I hunted Botswana with my .375 so equipped, but luckily they survived!
Ray, I have a spare set for a Pre-64 M70 .375 H&H, QD Lever rings and bases, already 8x40-ed, I would be willing to part with for a Talley peep sight only.

They've worked just fine on my .470 Capstick.

Yes, dainty little things with recoil stop in one direction only, and a vertical split ring. I don't like them. It is a personal philosophy sort of thing.
Do they make those antiquities any more?
