Any helpful suggestions on loads for my .458 Lott using Barnes 450 grain and 500 grain Triple Shocks, and their 500 grain banded solids?

retreeverBill,
In my Ruger 458 Lott I shot 83grs and 84grs of 4320 in the Lott with the 450gr and some 500gr.. The X bullet was fully petaled and stopped under the skin of a buf in Zim of 04..

500grainsWith 500 grain bullets, I like 82 to 84 grains of IMR4320 in the Lott. F215 primers.

billinthewildThanks for the info. When I get to my loading I'll try those. In the past I have zeroed my .458 WM at 50 yds. What is your experience with the Lott?

465H&HIMR-4320 is the classic powder for the 458 Lott. I have been using H-4895 in mine for a couple of reasons. H-4895 is a little faster burning and you can get the same velocity as IMR-4320 with a couple of grains less powder which reduces the amount of powder compression. Also in my rifle H-4895 is more accurate and since it is one of Hodgdons Extereme powders is much less affected by temperature which can be a concern in the heat of Africa.
