Bryan WBore guides for big bores
As D'Arcy Echols is putting the finishing touches on my .505 Gibbs he also searched for a bore guide to minimize the chance of me ruining the finish on the beautiful wood. He could not find a bore guide with a .525" hole. So as is his nature he made one.
He can produce bore guides if anyone is interested.

Bryan WDave,
The above picture is just a tease, as you can see there is a bit of engraving and, at the moment the rifle is off for Blueing.

AtkinsonIf your rifle is strictly a hunting rifle it may be more to your liking to approach this suggestion for your bore guide. A bore guide is a very good way to protect the throat of your rifle. Try this:
In a empty case that has been shot in your particular rifle drill out the expended primer pocket hole to fit a length of aluminum arrow shaft of your choice in length then glass it in the primer pocket hole, I usually extend it about 10 inches. I cut a slot somewhere behind the tang in this arrow shaft. Now you have a custom fit to the chamber that will protect the throat of the rifle, and of course the is what were doing here. Run a patched rod to the slot mentioned above and that is where you put a few drops of bore cleaner or oil, whatever then push it on out the barrel..
It works very well and cost about $1.20 I figure, depending on the cost of the case.
BTW that is a beautiful gun, as one would expect from the master of gunsmiths and an all around great guy..and the added touch of a custom bore guide is a real bonus IMO...

Thanks. Looks nice.
FYI, It is the only action I have shot where I notice the bolt throw but have only short stroked it a few times !!!

BaxterBI doubt if I could afford even the bore guide... Nice metal there...
Probably just another make-do job with a skinny box and tricks to make it feed, what?
