AfricanHunterFortnerRe: 505 Gibbs Magnum (bottom metal)
Jim Wisner, does this along with the follower, spring and a longer extractor for the Enfield/Rem 30 actions.
He had them on hand about 3 months ago.

V.V. JeffYes, it's an Enfield action. Sorry for not posting that before. So, Jim is just opening up the Enfield box? What is A square doing? They use the Enfield also, but I'm pretty sure they are getting their bottom metal from someone.

500grainsA-Square welds up their own bottom metal from some plates (or at least they used to).

Dago RedI am pretty sure that Jim makes his froms scratch, not a remake of their. Again, don't quote me as it has been a while since I heard this, I have it at home in an e-mail somewhere, which means I will probably never find it. :-)

RobgunbuilderJim Wisner does make new triggerguards with mag boxes that will fit the enfield action. Figure on spending $500 on one. Opening up an enfield to 505 Gibbs is far from trivial! Trying to cobble a box together ala A-square would be about the last thing I'd ever waste my time on. It may look simple, but they spent some time working out the exact shape of those plates in order to obtain the proper geometry. In any event, the mag box is the least of your problems! Getting a 505 Gibbs to work smoothly out of an enfield is IMHO a graduate course in DGR's. There is a reason you don't see too many of them. -Rob
