Not sure why...
I know, they're almost as touchy as the British double rifle crowd if you mention that H&H rifles are overpriced.

For what its worth, I have seen Dan rapid fire, and I do mean rapid fire, two different 375's into a virtual clover leaf at 25 yards off hand.
Metallic sights.
An FN and a Kimber.
The guy can shoot.
375 H & H ammo has been available since, what, 1910?
I can even shoot it in my 375 improved!
A short action at similar ballistics might seem like a good idea, but hey, Id rather have the FN and the Kimber.
And ammo to shoot through them.
I like velocity, esp in a 375 so am not anti short fat case. Its just that you can blow out a 375 and get similar velocity and still shoot std ammo in it and cheap brass is available anywhere in the world.
And built on premium actions.
The Ruger might be a wild-catters dream. I just hope somebody else makes brass for it!

BlueprintedI am about to jump to a big bore, so I am following these threads closely. I am a working stiff. I appreciate the top end rifles, bolts and doubles both and would love to own a few.
If I were to have a 100grand dropped in my lap right now to buy a rifle. I would take a Ruger or CZ worked over in 375 Ruger and go on safari. Same with a Marlin guide gun in 45-70 and go on a Bear hunt in Alaska.
Will the 375 Ruger end the H&H hell no. Too many purests out there. I have done my job for 17 years. I am learning sometimes the old ways were the best ways. I hope the Ruger lasts awhile. Worst case senerio we might get some great bullets out of the deal.

<Hunter Formerly Known As Texas Hunter>We're all shooters. Why all the acrimony? I don't get it!
Let's share information and experiences - not insults.
This is a great forum populated by a bunch of great people with a common interest. I really find it disappointing when we go down these roads. OK, I'm done. As you were.

It's because any new cartridge that is better designed is a direct attack on the classic cartridge that it compares to. It will result in the loss of all classic cartridges because of the domino effect.
Also the newer design cartridges have the PFM factor where their performance ignores the laws of physics and outperfom any projectiles shot from outmoded cartridges even if loaded to the exact same velocities.

mr rigbyPerhaps you can run an .375 H&H Reamer into the chamber of the .375 ruger and get an cartridge that you will be getting ammo for in 10 years time......

Nope, the reamer will not clean up the chamber where the step comes down in front of the belt on the H&H case.
