tom ga hunter404 or 375 H&H to play with
I will never go to Aferica.. I have a m70 in 300 win mag with the action converted to 375 length in a pacific research rimrock stock.. 1" gun but I never use it & just don't love it. Today at a small shop I found a nib m70lt in 300 rem ultra, a nib m70 early claw feed in 300 weatherby and a used m70 ss in a factory laminated stock in 7 rem mag. The used gun is $525 the nib's are $575.00. My 1st thought is to buy the 7 rem mag move it to the rimrock stock and take my current 300 win mag put it in the laminated stock, cross bolt it,grass bed, & rebarrel to 375. Cost about $1,100. thought 2, rebarrel the LT to 404, which probably would end up at $2,000 or more. Is it worth the extra for a 404?

Woodrow SIn a word...no. Your not going anywhere that would call for the 404 power level and its a lot more costly to shoot, so you won't have as much fun with it. Go with the 375 H&H. It will be just as much fun, cost less to feed and its actually more useful for hunting with in the US as well.

Idaho SharpshooterTom,
visualize yourself plopping down $800 or so and leaving the gunshop with a CZ in 416 Rigby! The performance specifications are nearly the same, except the Rigby will push a 400gr bullet over 2600fps in the WBee 416 case load data. Much better selection of bullets and brass, and the romance of Africa as described by Robert Ruark about Harry Selby from the 1950's on.
Note: no one here has had any issues with their CZ in 416R that they have posted.
