Re: Whitworth 375 Rifle
Hello Will and Happy New Year. My .416 was a conversion performed by Rigby stateside, or so I've been told. I bought it used -- obviously. The conversion is flawless and the rifle shoots really well. I weighed the .416 and it came in at 8 lbs 11 ozs -- very light. My friend, a PH, feels that I should add weight to it. It's brutal on the bench, but it is sighted in, so I don't really shoot it off of the bench very frequently any more. The .375 weighs about the same. They are light, but they handle well. I very pleased with both of them. The fit and finish is nice as well.

The little C-Z logo stands for Zavodi Crvena Zastava.

Kurt,just a nitpick.CZ stands for Ceska Zbrojovka.
Sometimes called Zastava or Brno.

You can even see the scope is off centre in this photo if you know to look for it.

With the custom bases for Warne QDs it is now in line with the barrel.

Shaun,

Ceska Zbrojovka, Brno and Zastava are 3 different companies in 2 different countries. The confusion lies in two areas:

1. Both Ceska Zbrojovka (Czechoslovakia) and Crvena Zastava (Yugoslavia) use similar logos with CZ in them. Ceska Zbrojovka means "Czech Manufacture" and Crvena Zastava means "Red Banner" (loose translations).

2. During the communist years all exported Czech rifles were required to have Brno stamped on them, even the ones made by Ceska Zbrojovka (the Brno BKK-600 is really a CZ made rifle, Brno had nothing to do with it).

Lots of history here, regardless of which I like mine a lot. I don't think it's at all too light, about 9.5 lbs with scope & sling. I'd prefer a larger-area buttpad but it still is fine by me. Didn't feed right when I bought it but Dave Gentry fixed that and installed one of his 3-pos. safeties.
