AfricanHunterI don't believe I would class Mr. Miller as "little known". I have never seen a rifle of his go "cheap". The ad could certainly contain a better description of its details.

browningguyI think that was a little tongue in cheek African Hunter, Millers work is pretty well known on this board.
I agree if I had it for sale it would have a much better description.

I haven't had a reason to check, but I think he is in Arizona.

Paolo9,5x73Current bid 3,500? That was the cost of one of his new rifles ca. 1979, but you better have deep pockets today!

bulldog563Anyone have a guess on the reserve?

Glen71You would think he'd have sprung for a magnum-length extractor.

lawndartThis is pretty churlish of me, but I think the fore end is too long and too thick at the front.

400 Nitro ExpressThe price is already up to twice what it is worth. What an ugly, clubby stock. I've seen better on a LOT of factory rifles.

Michael RobinsonCheck the angle on that full length photo of the rifle. It is not square, but is rather sharply angled from below.
It makes the stock, especially the fore end, look out of proportion, and blockier than it is.
A rifle like that one deserves a much better description and much, much better photography.

The price is up over $5000. Curious to see how high it will go.
I would guess this rifle was built in the early 80's.

RMillerI have to change my guess to the late 70's for the 404 pictured here.
Seeing how the leopard rifle sold in feb 1986.

This may be the 404 David Miller built for himself for a bongo hunt. I believe he concluded the 458 Lott was a better option with the forest elephants. I read somewhere he had sold the rifle. Anyone criticising a Miller rifle has never seen one in the flesh. They are magnificent but exspensive!
