Does anyone have any opinion or experience with this rifle? I'm thinking of ordering one in 458 Lott. Would this make an ideal buffalo or elephant rifle? Would this combination work well as a primary backup or stopping rifle? Also can someone recommend loads for that purpose in solids and soft points? Also is there anything I should do ask for or make sure of, on the rifle, to make sure it works flawless?

Are you talking about the African Express from the Winchester Custom Shop? Your heading said "pre 64", I don't think your a going to get a pre 64 action from Winchester's Custom Shop.

Nonetheless, I would think the .458 Lott would make an outstanding buffalo and elephant gun.
