Enigma260gr Accubond range report with pictures...
Let me start off by wishing a happy independence day to our neighbors!!!
I just came back from the range where I tested for the first time the 260gr Nosler Accubonds as well as my new chronograph, a ProChrono Digital made by Competition Electronics.
A few details of the equipment used.
Rifle: Winchester M70 Classic Stainless in 375 H&H
Scope: 2-7x32 Bushnell Elite 3200
Brass: Winchester, once fired brass
Primer: WLRM
Powder: RE-15, starting load of 68grs ended at 73grs
Bullet: 260gr Nosler Accubond seated to 3.590 inches
Following is a few pictures taken today at the 100yrd range. It was my first time out with my new chronograph. Temperature was around 28 degrees Celsius. Cloud cover ranged from clear and sunny to overcast and rain. 25 rounds were fired through the unit, all registered, with not one error message. This is one great unit!!!
With 73grs of RE-15, using a 6 shot string, I got a high of 2743 fps, low of 2726, average velocity of 2732 fps, standard deviation of 7. All cases showed very smooth extraction and no pressure signs.
I just can not wait to receive my laminated stock to replace the factory injection molded part that they call a stock!!!
I hope you enjoy the report as much as I had this afternoon at the range.
Cheers,
Maurice

Bill CooleyNice range! I like that setup no wind no distractions from other people next to you, like your own private range. I would expect the 260gr Nosler Accubonds to shoot well but it is good to get that confirmed. Good shooting!

EnigmaThanks Bill

Last time I counted, we had 14 different stands at the range

Thanks for the complements!

EnigmaGot back from the range after shooting a charging 2 liter soda bottle with the 260gr accubonds. Guess who one, yep, the accubond

I shot some video with my cheap digital camera and made a little clip...
I had nothing better to do today

Maurice

wildboarNice range and good results indeed! Any 200 yds (or more) stand?
06 July 2007, 06:50
EnigmaHello Wildboar,
The longest range is the 100 yards one. I do go and shoot out to 200 and 300 yards but its in an abandoned gravel pit. Hopefully I will remember to take pictures next time we go there.

Great varmit gun.
The 375 really is the one caliber does it all.

EnigmaThank you all for the comments

Not many prairie dogs in my neck of the woods, however, we have plenty of timber bear and moose

CanuckGreat post Enigma.
Good shooting, nice photos (great setups...love the addition of the OFF spray!!) and a cool video clip.
Threads like these are the equivalent of a good hunting report and a very refreshing change from the usual debates. We should all do more of this! Thanks for sharing.
Cheers,
Canuck

EnigmaHello Canuck,
Well thank you for the great comments. My wife thought my video was cheesy, and that I looked to serious on the video. I tried to explain to her that when you aim for a 3 shot group, one tends to be concentrated... In one ear, out the other I guess

One can waste a lot of energy trying to explain these kinds of things to our spouses. Mine feels all my shooting video's/pictures/etc are cheesy and stupid too.

Keep up the good work though. Your efforts are appreciated!

"Good shooting", "Nice group" ?????
Come on, you are OK on the Up/Down side but on the Left/Right....do you realize that the extreme left shot and the extreme right shot would completely miss a PD head @ 300 yards!
Looks like operator error to me

Congrats!!

Paolo9,5x73There are six empties, so what happened to the other three slugs?

Excellent.
I have found the ProChrono to be very reliable and to give same readings as the Oehler 35. It is very handy.
RL-15 is my favorite powder for the .375 H&H too.
