I have a grasp over the subject, but you seems to mix up good doubles with the worst bolt action trash that can be found [Big Grin]

The latest news is that blaser r 93 has declined their sale in Sweden and I have see some out for secondhand, Huh, the time for miracles are not over yet [Embarrassed]

What?? You know how things go on here. I get harazzed by this blaser all the time. NE has some nice rifles and is a nice person, but somethings are not perfect and therefore he owns a blaser. Just trying to point him in the right direction [Big Grin]

BFaucett posted the images of the first dummy cartridges which Blaser has pictured and advertised. The real loaded rounds do no look like this, and have a far smaller shoulder.

I am actually kind of fond of the 577-450, though I do not shoot it or own anything so chambered, it just needs a shorter neck. The Blazer's rebated rim looks awful funny... I have not been able to pull up the "real" photo's.

I am surprised none of you jokesters have proclaimed the 540gr Hammerhead 45 Blazer as the next best thing in Africa. Ok, just kidding; I love my 45-70 and respect Garrett.

I bought one of the first rifles that came to America in 2002 or 2003. I brought in the first brass that was available as well.

At one point I had 300 rounds of brass.

I ended up getting stationed overseas again, and couldn't take it with me so I sold it to Aleko Jensen in Salt Lake. I am not sure who got into it from there.

I have a VZ-24 sitting here, with no barrel on it. It is one of the calibers I have thought about doing.

Any recollections of loads / velocities?

I found a thread elsewhere suggesting .450 Marlin max loads make ideal starting points and have noted that whilst the factory load was a 350g bullet at 620m/s DEVA list a load with Norma 200 for 733m/s.

It certainly reads like a round that was never exploited to its full potential

A barrel came up for one pretty cheap but after doing some research on the exhorbitant price of abysmal quality brass I decided it wasn't nearly cheap enough.

I'm not sure if that allegedly abysmal quality brass is the Australian Bertram relabelled and sent around the world a few times, or if the Horneber or Wolfgang Romey brass that goes for 60 Euro per 20 is indeed different to the brass for sale here at AUD $45 per 20

Straight from the horses mouth, Bertram Brass is head stamped WR and exported to Germany to be loaded with 350g Woodleighs (presumably powder and primers are German)
Ther have been a few batches with subtle variations in head stamp and no so subtle differences in metallurgy...

Now has anyone tried the 325g Flex tip Hornady for a subtle range extension?

Some Gunwriters in Norway tested the catridge some times back.
They found it to be fairly accurate, but with some penetration problems on big Pigs and Moose.
The Brass expands heavily, almost impossible to make more than 2-3 reloads..

The factory loaded 350g RNs by Woodleigh were designed for the .450BPE with a lot of lead exposed and a thin jacket for expansion at 2100 to 1800fps - I doubt penetration was ever there strong point.
The 400g PP, 350g TSX, and 400g Hydro should up the anti nicely.
I intend to give the 400g PP a go on sambar next month and will be intrigued to see how they perform in our largest deer, if they fail to break ribs on the offside I'll be looking elsewhere for a bullet for bovines
