GroveGreen Box 270gr. 375 H&H
My CZ 550 African Safari in 375 H&H will shoot 3 shot clover leafs with the Remmington Green Box 270gr. all day long. I was wondering if anyone has used this factory round nose on any real game ... be it, hogs, white tails or elk. I would like to hear some real world appreciation/experience with this factory round. Thanks.

Charles_HelmRed deer hind, plus/minus 200 yards:
I think for deer-sized game they should be fine -- after all it is a .375.

BEGNOMy Remington 700 Classic in 375 H & H shoots that ammo well and has been used to take a Brown bear and Grizzly bear (with great results), both in Alaska. I am not a reloader and have always been impressed with the performance and accuracy of the Green Box ammo.
I have taken lots of game(from Moose to whitetails) in several different calibers using Green Box and have a large collection of retrieved bullets that show excellent expansion. I will be taking my 375 and Green Box ammo to Namibia in July of next year on my first safari for PG/Leopard with Vaughan Fulton.

jetdrvrI have had exceptional range results with that stuff in my Mod. 70 Safari Classic. I shot a deer with it, with the expected devastating results.
Interestingly, it shoots to the same POI as the Remington Swift A Frame load at 100 yards. I like it and would use it on plains game if I ran out of A Frames.

RMillerI shot an elk with it in colorado.
The bullet went behind the onside shoulder into the far side shoulder and stopped somewhere in the offside shoulder. No bones were broke and the bullet did not exit. Tore a nice hole through the lungs. I would want more penetration for bear.
That was in 97. Maybe the bullets are tougher nowadays.

Paolo9,5x73It's good ammo suitable for anything large found in North America. I bought good quantity of 270 and 300 grainers when these were priced below $30/pack.

GAHUNTERI shot an elk with my FN Browning Safari grade using the 270-grain Core-Lokts. At the time, it was the only ammo I could get to shoot accurately in the rifle.
The bullet went in on the point of the shoulder and exited just behind the off shoulder. Elk took two steps and collapsed.
The ranch owner I hunt with in Colorado prefers his clients use Core-Lokts over anything else, as, according to him, they kill quicker than the "super bullets."

N E 450 No2I have shot a pig with it in my Blaser R 93 Tracker. Worked great.
While I might want a stouter SP bullet for Cape Buff, It should be good for most everything else.

gumboot458.......Shot a number of Sitka Black tails with them ....They have worked well on lots of brown bear for people I know as has the 270 gr..Winchester power point ...often times produceing bang flops ... I had a Whitworth Express that would produce 1" groups @ 100 y with both Rem and Win. 270 gr factory ammo...

Sounds like you're good to go outside Africa. My friend David Elson said after bouncing a 270-grainer off a blue wildebeeste he felt ashamed and ready to quit. He was very strong on something tougher, say a RHINO, A-frame or Bearclaw for subsequent safaris.
Maybe you'll step up to a TSX in 270-grains by the time your rifle gets to "go home"?
