Life expectancy of double rifles .......
For the newly-produced double rifles available today (Chapius, Merkel, Searcy, etc.) in the big-bore calibers (.470, .500, .577), how many rounds can you expect to shoot through these guns before you begin to shoot the guns loose ? And, please, don't answer that you won't shoot them enough because they recoil too much; try and be specific with your opinions on numbers of shots. Thanks.

There was a gentleman who shot his Searcy over 6000 rounds without it becoming loose or going off face. As for the other brands, I do not know (other than rumours), but they generally do not look or feel as stout as a Searcy.

My friend, David Guitar, has a Jeffery in 475 #2 Jeffery that shot off the face. The rifle was made circa 1910. JJ at Champlins put it back on the face and now the rifle is a tight as a new rifle.

As far as number of shots? I have no idea. All doubles will shoot off the face at some time. They can be fixed.
